It's still a very good game, with tons of freedom both in terms of how you play-stealth, run-and-gun, or a mixture of the two-and in how you tackle each level. The sequel is better looking, and the city streets of Karnaca are more populated than Dunwall's empty corridors. As an assassin out for justice and revenge, you could kill your objectives or take them out non-lethally (though not necessarily non-violently.) It was a breath of fresh air in the gaming space, with a beautiful art-style reminiscent of Half-Life 2 ( Dishonored's art director worked on both games, unsurprisingly.)įast-forward four years to 2016 and the release of Dishonored 2. On the surface, the two games are very similar. You could play the game however you liked, sewing chaos and death, or sneaking your way through each mission. Dishonored was one of my favorite games of 2012, combining terrific first-person combat with magic powers and a strong, but optional, stealth component. ![]()
